This Labor Day held special significance for Great American Family actress Danica McKellar, as it marked a momentous milestone in her life.
“Precisely 14 years ago, on September 6, 2010 – which happened to be Labor Day that year – I went into labor!” she shared on Instagram. “After an intense 36-hour journey (opting for a natural birth), surrounded by the unwavering support of my mother, sister, and his father, I finally met Draco. That moment transformed my life in the most extraordinary way possible.”
Her Instagram post featured a trio of images: two depicting her pregnant and in labor, followed by a heartwarming shot of her cradling her newborn son.
“It felt miraculous then, and continues to feel that way today,” she added.
McKellar also offered words of encouragement to her followers who are parents:
“To all the mothers out there facing challenges – simply shower your children with love, as much and as often as you can. As they grow, you’ll realize it’s the most worthwhile investment in the entire world.”
Fans expressed gratitude for her advice and sent birthday wishes to her son.
One follower commented, “So touching and so accurate ❤️ love your motherhood wisdom!”
Another chimed in, “Awww happy birthday to your Draco!!! Sending joyous birthday wishes to him (AND YOU, BEAUTIFUL MAMA)!! 🎁🎉🎊🎂🎈”
McKellar co-parents Draco with her former spouse, Mike Verta. In a 2013 interview with PEOPLE, she expressed the profound love she experiences as a mother.
“You discover a love you never knew existed. I thought I understood love, but it’s mind-blowing…I love Draco with every fiber of my being – there’s no doubt about it.”
The actress homeschools her now 14-year-old son, a decision she’s been open about discussing.
She previously told Fox News, “We co-parent wonderfully. It’s been a journey, but I’m so thankful for it. I have Draco half the time. If he were in school all day, I wouldn’t see him much, so I really value the extra bonding time we get.”
Familyguide previously reported on the actress’s faith journey:
Since embracing Christianity in recent years, Danica McKellar has been sharing her spiritual growth as she undertook reading the entire Bible within a year.
The Lord’s Prayer resonated deeply with her, particularly Jesus’ teachings on forgiveness.
“One technique I use to fall asleep when my mind is racing, which it often does, is to silently recite the Lord’s Prayer,” Danica McKellar said in a video on the Great American Community website. “It’s incredibly soothing. Because I’ve been doing this so frequently, I’ve internalized it and have been able to truly reflect on its meaning.”
