At the premiere of his latest film REAGAN, Dennis Quaid shared his pride and joy in his children, offering a glimpse into his life as a father.
Quaid is the proud parent of three: Jack, 32, and 16-year-old twins Zoe and Thomas. The premiere marked a special occasion as Zoe made her red carpet debut alongside her father.
“This is her first time on the red carpet,” Quaid revealed to Fox News. “She’s dressed up in her gown and looks absolutely stunning. I’m incredibly proud of her. She’s such a darling and incredibly bright.”
The actor expressed his love for fatherhood to PEOPLE last July, saying, “I truly enjoy being a dad. I believe I’m good at it. So far, things have turned out well. Jack has grown into an amazing person. I’m so proud of him, as well as Thomas and Zoe.”
“They’re all wonderful kids. I love watching them grow and evolve,” he continued. “When I think back to being 15, I had no idea what life had in store for me. I don’t know what’s ahead for them either, but we’re taking it one day at a time as they develop.”
While Zoe was experiencing her first premiere, Jack has already established himself in the industry with over 60 acting credits since his 2012 debut.
“I advise my children to find something they’re passionate about, then figure out how to make a living from it,” Quaid shared. “I don’t pressure them in any direction. They’re their own individuals.”
Despite Jack’s advantageous start in the industry, he has worked diligently to prove his worth beyond his family name.
“My agent wanted to represent him, but he declined, saying, ‘I want to do this on my own,'” Quaid recounted to Kelly Clarkson in 2020, as reported by Fox News.
“He then landed an agent independently and his first film was HUNGER GAMES. He followed that with a role in [Martin] Scorsese’s VINYL, which was a hot property. Now he’s in THE BOYS, one of the most popular streaming shows. It’s fantastic,” Quaid added.
Jack acknowledges the advantages of his background but remains committed to honing his craft and earning roles based on merit rather than his famous surname.
“I’ve been called a ‘nepo baby,'” Jack recently told The Daily Beast. “I tend to agree. I’m incredibly privileged and was able to secure representation early on, which is a significant part of the challenge. I recognized that doors were open for me in ways they aren’t for many actors, and I’ve strived to work as hard as possible to prove I deserve those opportunities.”
Familyguide previously reported on Quaid’s family life:
Dennis Quaid attributes the strength of his marriage to his faith, believing that having a spiritual foundation is key to his relationship with his wife.
“I wasn’t seeking it, but she came into my life, and I believe God brought us together,” Quaid told Fox News Digital.
Quaid and his wife, Laura Savoie, married in June 2020 after meeting at a business event the previous year.
Despite facing criticism over their 39-year age difference, Quaid doesn’t view it as an issue. He focuses instead on the life they’ve built together and their future plans.
“I haven’t addressed the age gap with my wife. Others have commented on it, but I don’t really think about it,” he said. “She’s so accomplished and vibrant that I just don’t notice it. She’s truly the light of my life.”
