By Familyguide Contributor

Chick-fil-A is branching out beyond its famous chicken sandwiches.

The popular fast-food chain is reportedly making moves in the entertainment industry, with plans to launch its own streaming platform and original programming.

According to Deadline, “The fast-food company has been collaborating with several major production companies, including some studios, to create family-friendly content, particularly in the unscripted genre. They are also in discussions to license and acquire existing content.”

While Chick-fil-A has not made an official announcement about this new venture, an insider informed Deadline that the company known for its “original chicken sandwich” has been in talks with multiple major networks and has allocated approximately $400,000 per half-hour of unscripted content.

Deadline also mentioned, “Chick-fil-A, which operates more than 3,000 restaurants across the U.S., has previously produced content for its own website, including STORIES OF EVERGREEN HILLS, a series of short, animated films. The company has also diversified into other areas such as producing children’s puzzles and games under its Pennycake brand.”

Familyguide previously reported:

Chick-fil-A, the popular fast food chain, is looking to expand its reach into the entertainment industry.

Their new app, “PLAY,” is expected to include “scripted podcasts and audio adventures, original animation, reality and game shows, and other live-action scripted or non-scripted programming.”

The company’s venture into entertainment doesn’t necessarily mean it will create content related to its brand. Instead, it aims to produce content that “entertains our kids & family audience” and aligns with the “vision, heartbeat, and positioning of the Chick-fil-A brand,” the company stated.

“The Chick-fil-A brand has a very specific and nuanced approach, and content will need to be carefully and thoughtfully brought to life in such a way that audiences both internal and external can quickly say, ‘That feels like Chick-fil-A,'” it added.

While Chick-fil-A has yet to announce a launch date for its content, it has revealed a new menu item. In an Instagram post, the company announced, “Save the date for August 26th… 🥟 A seasonal favorite is returning, along with a spicy companion. Get ready for the Honey Pepper Pimento Sandwich in original or spicy. 💛 Our most indulgent milkshake is on its way. Sample the new Banana Pudding Milkshake, crafted with real bananas and vanilla wafer cookie pieces. Available for a limited time only.”

Chick-fil-A isn’t the first non-entertainment company to enter the streaming arena. Starbucks introduced Starbucks Studios in June, as reported by Axios.

“Brands have been gravitating towards Hollywood for partnership opportunities that allow their corporate narrative to permeate culture and appeal to key demographics by being entertaining,” stated Axios reporter Eleanor Hawkins.
