“LEGO Pixar Shorts: Your Favorite Characters Brick by Brick in Unexpected Adventures!”

Pixar’s most cherished narratives are getting a fresh twist through a collection of animated LEGO shorts set to premiere on Disney+ in early September.

“Embark on new adventures with your favorite LEGO Pixar characters!” teases the series synopsis. “Join Miguel for a musical journey in the Land of the Dead, assist Merida and her brothers through a bear-y challenging situation, embark on an epic excursion with Nemo, Marlin, and Dory, watch the Parr family defend their neighborhood from Syndrome, and support Mater as he readies Lightning McQueen for his next big race.”

These tales expand upon the universes originally introduced in FINDING NEMO, THE INCREDIBLES, CARS, BRAVE, and COCO.

Disney and LEGO have enjoyed a longstanding partnership, with some of their joint ventures – like Star Wars and Avengers – ranking among the company’s most successful franchises.

LEGO-based media has demonstrated remarkable staying power, particularly among family audiences. Their popularity is largely attributed to their strong moral underpinnings. THE LEGO MOVIE, for instance, emphasized the significance of sacrifice and the value of creativity. It recently climbed to the top of Netflix’s movie rankings over a decade after its initial release.

While the complete storylines for these shorts remain under wraps, given that they primarily stem from Pixar’s earlier films, they will hopefully steer clear of any controversial themes the studio has explored in recent years. Disney and Pixar have already demonstrated their understanding that family-oriented content needs to be genuinely family-friendly, which is more easily achieved with these established narratives.

The animated LEGO miniseries is slated for release exclusively on Disney+ on September 4. A trailer for these shorts can be viewed here.
