Shocking Study Reveals the #1 Secret to Raising Faith-Filled Kids – Parents, You Won’t Believe What It Is!

Study: Consistent Scripture Reading Crucial for Children’s Spiritual Development

A recent study conducted by Lifeway Research reveals that establishing a routine of regular Bible reading is the most effective method for children to nurture and maintain their faith throughout adolescence and into adulthood.

The survey findings indicate:

The majority of churchgoing Protestant parents with young adult children report that their offspring grew up to embrace Christianity.

However, according to these parents, half of their children do not actively practice their Christian faith.

The study found that the most significant predictor of young adults’ spiritual well-being is whether they engaged in regular Bible reading as children.

These insights come from a new study on parenting and spirituality conducted by Nashville-based Lifeway Research among Protestant churchgoers. The research was commissioned by Lifeway Kids for use in the book Nothing Less: Engaging Kids in a Lifetime of Faith.

The study surveyed 2,000 Protestant and nondenominational churchgoers who attend services at least monthly and have adult children between 18 and 30 years old.

Scott McConnell, executive director of Lifeway Research, explained that researchers sought to identify which parenting practices yield long-term benefits in terms of spiritual health.

“Parents who regularly attend church want to pass their faith on to their children and see them make that faith their own,” McConnell stated. “But they often aren’t sure about the best way to accomplish this goal.”

When children developed this habit of Bible reading, they were more likely to grow into adults who actively participated in church activities and engaged with their surrounding culture from a Christian perspective.

The impact of this spiritual discipline extends beyond church attendance, as consistent Bible reading can also play a crucial role in shaping a child’s worldview.

Instilling a biblical/Christian worldview in children is essential for developing proper media discernment skills as well.

A biblical worldview encompasses principles that reflect and promote the moral values and virtues found in the Bible, such as love, compassion, justice, truthfulness, and honoring one’s parents. It also involves recognizing and rejecting evil, including hatred, greed, and cruelty.

When it comes to evaluating media content, children with a strong biblical foundation can better discern the underlying messages and values presented. They can ask important questions such as:

What are the main moral statements in this media product?

How does the portrayal of good and evil compare to biblical teachings?

What worldview is being presented, and how does it align with biblical principles?

Is there any redeeming value in the content?

By engaging in daily Bible reading, children not only strengthen their faith for a lifetime but also develop a robust biblical worldview. This foundation will guide their choices in media consumption and help them become discerning consumers of content.
