Unlock the Power of Prayer: This Simple Guide Will Transform How You Pray for Your Kids

Family-focused online ministry Risen Motherhood is offering guidance on how parents can use scripture to pray for their children’s spiritual growth and development.

The organization has created a prayer guide inspired by Ephesians 3:16-17, which includes several key elements:

“Belt of Truth”

“Grant my children the strength to stand firm in Your truth, even when those around them question it. Instill in them the courage to believe and share Your Word lovingly with others today.”

“Breastplate of Righteousness”

“Envelop my children in Christ’s perfection, that their sins may be forgiven. When they falter and fall short today, remind them to seek forgiveness in Him. May Your grace guide their actions in every situation.”

The guide continues with prayers for other spiritual armor, including:

“Shoes of Gospel Peace”

“Prepare my children to eagerly share the peace that Christ’s gospel brings. May they recognize and act upon opportunities in their conversations today.”

“Shield of Faith”

“When doubts creep into my children’s minds, fortify their faith to believe what is true. Help them act on their knowledge of You, rather than relying solely on what they see or feel.”

Drawing inspiration from John 10:28, the guide also includes:

“Helmet of Salvation”

“Help my children understand salvation, embrace it, and find assurance as they trust in Christ. When doubt or fear arises, remind them that Jesus never loses His sheep.”

“Sword of Spirit – The Word of God”

“Instill in my children a love for Your Word, even in moments when it may seem uninteresting. Bring Scripture to their minds during challenging situations today, enabling them to resist temptation and discern the right path.”

In addition to prayer guides, Risen Motherhood offers various resources including a podcast covering topics such as decision-making, dealing with change, coping with grief, balancing work and motherhood, and cultivating a prayer life.

The ministry has also published ten faith-centered books, including two designed for children. Other titles focus on living out faith at home, navigating the parenting journey, and guiding children through the digital age.

Familyguide recently highlighted how Alexa PenaVega, a mother of three, models faith for her children:

“We certainly discuss Bible stories, which is fun and exciting. But I think the most crucial aspect is demonstrating what a relationship with God looks like. There’s learning about the Bible, but then there’s cultivating a real relationship,” PenaVega explained.

“I realized the best way to teach them about faith was to actively practice my faith in front of them,” she added.

“I pray aloud frequently. They’ll hear me talking to God while I’m cooking or cleaning. This has brought them to a place where they understand they can turn to God for absolutely anything,” she continued.
