HGTV’s beloved HOMETOWN stars Erin and Ben Napier recently made a heartwarming discovery during their visit to Orlando. The couple stumbled upon a house that once served as a filming location for the movie MY GIRL, now undergoing a remarkable transformation.

Erin shared the experience on her social media, stating, “We were surprised to find the house under renovation. I snapped a photo on the iconic steps where Vada sat in the film. Unexpectedly, a woman emerged from the porch and invited us to explore the interior.”

She continued, “While the house was portrayed as a funeral parlor in the movie, it’s now evolving into Hope House. This beautifully renovated home will provide bedrooms and nurseries for expectant single mothers facing crisis pregnancies.”

“Hearing about the fundraising efforts and volunteer work dedicated to creating this refuge for women in need brought tears to my eyes,” Erin added. “The facility will offer life skills courses covering infant care, parenting, mental health, job placement, and Bible studies. The team behind Hope House aimed to create a beautiful environment to remind these new mothers of their inherent worth and the potential for a brighter future, regardless of their current circumstances. We’re planning to contribute, and you can too at hopehousefl.org.”

Hope House’s mission is to “serve, equip and empower first-time expectant moms who have chosen life for their babies.”

The organization’s website elaborates: “Hope House fulfills its mission through unparalleled excellence modeled by staffing, experiences, and facilities with the aim that women would feel their worth.”

For Hope House director Tara Johnson, sharing her vision with the Napiers was a profound moment.

“This is yet another testament to God’s incredible work,” Johnson shared on social media. “Nearly 12 years ago, I found myself on the bathroom floor, staring at a positive pregnancy test, terrified and convinced I had ruined my life. Now, I’m about to open the doors to a maternity home.”

“Recently, I saved a prayer on my phone that read, ‘Reveal glimpses of Your divine nature and power by working through my life.’ He’s doing exactly that,” she continued. “Today, I had the privilege of showing Erin and Ben our ‘hometown’ renovation and introducing them to Hope House. Shortly after, Erin shared our story with her 1.5 million followers.”

“God has the power to redeem everything,” Johnson concluded. “He can take even the most challenging parts of your life, transform them into your testimony, and use them for His glory. Every time. Without fail.”

HOME TOWN’s Erin Napier recently shared some personal insights, from her preferred place of prayer to her favorite cuisine.

In a Q&A for Guideposts, Napier revealed that her go-to spot for prayer is “in bed, just before falling asleep. Prior to having children, it was at the church altar late at night.”

The HGTV personality also disclosed her cherished Bible verse, Matthew 6:25-26:

“Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?”

“As someone prone to worry, I find great comfort in these verses during stressful times,” Napier explained.
