During promotional activities at the Cannes Film Festival for her latest film, actress Jennifer Lawrence revealed how embracing motherhood profoundly altered her emotional landscape.

"Becoming a parent changes everything. It fundamentally alters your entire life. It's both intense and profoundly beautiful," Lawrence expressed when asked about the shift in her life perspective since having children. "Not only do they influence every decision – like where and when I work – but they've also taught me... I never knew I could feel so deeply. My profession relies heavily on emotion, and they've truly opened up a new world for me."

She continued, describing the heightened sensitivity: "It's almost like having a fresh wound or something; so incredibly sensitive. So, they have undeniably changed my life for the better, and they've also transformed me creatively."

Lawrence and her husband, Cooke Maroney, are parents to two children. Following their marriage in 2019, they welcomed their son, Cy, in 2022, and their second child arrived earlier this year, though details like the child's name or gender have not been publicly disclosed.

"Jen is doing wonderfully. Navigating the newborn phase while also caring for a toddler can be demanding, but Jen approaches it with such a fantastic attitude. She truly embodies motherhood," a source close to Lawrence informed PEOPLE shortly after the second birth. "She's composed and adapts easily. Cooke is also an excellent father. They manage to balance everything effectively as a team."

Her personal journey into parenthood also informed Lawrence's role in her upcoming film, DIE MY LOVE, where she portrays a new mother.

"As a mother, it was exceptionally challenging to differentiate my own feelings from those of my character," she explained. "It was profoundly heartbreaking... I had just given birth to my first child, and there's truly nothing quite like postpartum. It's incredibly isolating. Her character lacks a support system, her community. But the reality is, severe anxiety and depression are isolating, regardless of your location. You feel like an outsider."

Jennifer Lawrence joins many other public figures whose lives have been profoundly transformed by becoming parents. While some actors choose to reduce their workload or step away from entertainment to prioritize their children, others find their offspring to be a wellspring of inspiration. As Lawrence navigates the demands of motherhood alongside her acting career, it's heartening to hear her speak so openly and affectionately about her family and the immense impact they have had on her.
